Cutting tools

High accuracy and maximum stiffness

Economical cutting of spiral bevel gears wet or dry requires processing devices that are well-matched to one another. In addition to the gear cutting machine, the workholding, the blades and other elements, the cutterhead is an important production element.

High-performance cutterheads must accommodate as many blade groups as possible for a given nominal diameter, as this considerably increases their performance. At the same time, a high level of accuracy is a basic condition for a precisely cut spiral bevel gear.

The static and dynamic stiffness of the cutterhead influences the tool life quantities per cutter resharpening, particularly during dry cutting with carbide tools.

All of these requirements - high number of blade groups, accuracy and in particular excellent static and dynamic strength characteristics - are fulfilled by the ARCON® and SPIRON® cutterhead systems.

ARCON® is a cutterhead system for the single-indexing method.
SPIRON® is the corresponding high-performance cutterhead system for the continuous indexing method.
