The origins of this family business date back to the year 1863. Now in its seventh generation, Klingelnberg is a family-run business still today.

The mechanical engineering company is the global market and technology leader in its areas. These include the development and manufacture of machines for the production of spiral-cut bevel gears, measuring centers for axially symmetrical objects of all types, and the production of high-precision gear components made to customers' orders.

The road from the company's origins to global market leadership  has been shaped by a no-holds-barred approach to product and service quality, along with absolute reliability and strict adherence to deadlines. That is what every one of the roughly 1,000 employees stands for. With 170 R&D engineers around the globe and 93 patent applications in the past five years, the company consistently demonstrates its capacity for innovation.

Today Klingelnberg operates engineering and manufacturing facilities in Zurich, Switzerland, Hückeswagen and Ettlingen, Germany, and Györ, Hungary. The company maintains a global presence with Sales and Service offices in Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, Japan, India, the United States, and Mexico.

The most recent milestones in the company's evolution include:

• Acquisition of Oerlikon Geartec AG (1993)
• Introduction of the dry-cutting process for spiral bevel gears (1997)
• Commissioning of the world's most modern large bevel gear manufacturing facility (2008)
• Inauguration of the new corporate headquarters in Zurich (2010)

The business is managed by Jan Klingelnberg (CEO) along with Dr. Hartmuth Müller (CTO)
and Tomas Kirschenfauth (COO). 

The company's declared aim is to continue to provide highly efficient, competitive products for customers and partners from a range of industries, including the automotive, commercial vehicle and aircraft industries, shipbuilding, the wind-power industry, and general gear manufacturing. In all its dealings, Klingelnberg is respectful of the environment – as evidenced by its ISO 14001 certification and the company's participation in the Blue Competence Initiative by the German Engineering Federation (VDMA).
